Aims:
This course aims to update hygienists and therapists with the theoretical knowledge of interpretation of images in the provision of dental treatment appropriate for their scope of practice.
Objectives:
- To discuss the principles of justification, optimisation, limitation and operator techniques to aid in the provision of dental treatment.
- To update knowledge on dental radiography and its selection criteria
- To discuss the justification process for dental radiographs
- To discuss how to complete a clinical interpretation of images to aid in the provision of dental treatment
- Provide a logical structure for completing radiograph reports.
Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the principles and management of radiation protection, selection criteria and quality assurance.
- Make a justified decision to take radiographs to aid you with your diagnoses and treatment planning.
- Apply your knowledge to correctly interpret radiographs to provide dental treatment in the best interests of the patient.
- Confidently write a radiograph report within your scope of practice.
