To discuss the 2017 periodontal classification & BSP modified version and how it will be implemented to diagnose periodontal and gingival conditions.

Objectives:

The speaker will:

• Discuss how to screen, assess and document periodontal disease in patients

• Update periodontal knowledge and the new classification system

• Discuss how to implement the new periodontal classification in general dental practice in the UK.

• Discuss case studies

Learning Outcomes:

Following the session, the delegates will be able to:

• Diagnose and classify periodontal disease easily in the general population.

• Implement new classification in the management and treatment of patients with periodontal disease

• Utilize new periodontal classification to differentiate various stages and grades of the periodontal disease and plan necessary steps based on disease activity.

• Better and clear understanding of when the disease should be treated, maintained and referred, as indicated by BSP guidelines.
